SciCom – Creative Poster and Project Ideas

Cool SciCom Ideas

Hi Reader, you should have some fun.

I know, it often feels daunting and difficult to try something new.

But in the end, good science communication can be extremely simple.

Let me convince you with a few examples:

Inspiration Wherever You Look

We all want people to marvel at our posters so that we never have to stand there alone again ... So, how about giving people something to play with?

There are several examples of people including interactive elements in their posters.

However, crafting these can be time-consuming and require skilled hands.

But we can achieve the same result in a much simpler way. Here is something I recently came across on a poster:

And of course, you can also be a bit more playful:

In other words, take those elaborate solutions and turn them into something much simpler.

However, there is also nothing wrong with putting special skills to good use.

Synergizing Hobbies

Indeed, you can turn your hobby into a science communication project too.

Take, for example, Louis-Jan Pilaz, who crafts amazing sculptures out of wood.

Science communication doesn’t need to involve the latest paper or your own research.

You can just do it for the sake of beauty, design, or joy.

Do you knit socks or play around with a 3D printer? I bet you could do something cool with those too.

The world of science communication is yours.

I hope you’ll use it to have some fun when you get the chance.

A Central Concept in SciCom Hi Reader, how do you find the core? Okay, I threw you in at the deep end here. “Finding the core” is, to my mind, one of the most essential aspects of any communication. So, let me share a section of the guide I’m putting together. The Main Lesson (from the Guide) The core is the main message you want to communicate. It is the through-line, the essence of all the thoughts you want to express. The perspective of the piece, your tone, and the facts or examples you...

Some Inspiration for You Hi Reader, one of the best things about science communication is that you are free. It’s a playground where you can live out your fantasies and ideas. You decide which topic, which style, and which approach you want to take. Therefore, I collected a few unique creator styles that I hope will inspire you on your journey: Make It Unique While Lindsay Nikole’s content is interesting, it’s her style that I love. I think “unique” is absolutely fitting here. While everyone...

Everyone Can Make It Hi Reader, what do you need to become a successful science communicator? I think many people never start because they doubt they have the special advantage they think is needed. They are “just” a scientist or a student, without any special education or tools. That’s a mistake because I would argue that you don’t need any of that! No Secret Sauce As I’m currently working on the course on how to do good science communication, I’ve been reflecting a lot on my own past. For...
